The Shivaramakrishnan Committee, which is intended to make the job easier for state government seems has complicated the task by suggesting Donakonda area for building the state Capital. Hence, the matter was thoroughly discussed in the cabinet meeting held yesterday. There were reports in the media that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will make an official announcement today in the state Assembly, but he didn’t. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said he will do after one or two days as it needs careful reviewing.
However, the state government has issued a circular to all the head of the departments of the state government to get ready to move to Vijayawada very soon. They were asked to submit their proposals necessary arrangements for shifting. Officials have identified Medha Towers near Gannavaram airport suitable for accommodating number of head offices of the state government. So, it would be the destination for many offices. Obviously, this decision is revealing that state government would like to build the state Capital between Guntur and Vijayawada instead of Donakonda area as suggested by the experts committee. If so, government has to prepare to face severe criticism for its decision from people of Rayalaseema region, who are demanding the state Capital be built in Kurnool. Therefore, Chandrababu Naidu has to address their concerns before going ahead with his decision.
