Mumbai Crime Branch police have arrested Gurunath Meiyappan, the director of the Chennai Super Kings team yesterday evening at Mumbai airport for his alleged involvement in betting charges in IPL matches. Meiyappan is the son-in-law of BCCI president N.Srinivasan. His named pops-up during interrogation of Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh. He confessed that Meiyappan has provided him vital information about the IPL teams and in return he helped him in betting through bookies on IPL matches. However, he revealed Meiyappan has lost Rs.1 crore in betting during the current sessions of IPL series.

Himanshu Roy, the Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Mumbai Police has told the media that they have taken Meyippan into custody as they found basic evidences against him for betting on the IPL matches.

Meyippan will be produced before court on Saturday. Vindoo, who is a key player in this betting game has been extended remand for 5 days till May 28^th for further questioning by Mumbai Crime branch police. Mumbai crime police are going to appeal the court for Meiyappan’s custody also.

BCCI Board President is still maintaining silence over his son-in-law’s involvement in betting. He is also facing pressures for his resignation.

People of the state have seen YSR Congress party adopting the leaders of its rival parties for its promotional campaigns with its flex banners idea recently. He has property disputes with his brother Devineni Uma. Hence, he locked the TDP office in Kanchikarla in Krishna district. He argues that, his brother can’t use the building, which is common property of the family for running TDP office, without the permission of all the family members.

OU students have rallied to Tourism minister Chiranjeevi’s residence Jubilee Hills on Thursday evening demanding for his resignation for wasting Rs. 2.14 crores of public money for conducting three day UN World Tourism Conference.
OU T-JAC representative Krishnak said “The details that we have collected using right to information is very shocking.”

“Chiranjeevi has allowed his ministry to lavishly spend the public money to conduct three days tourism conference. An amount of Rs. 2.14 crores has been spent for conducting three days conference held at Park Hyatt Hotel on 12^th, 13^th and 14^th . Tourism department has paid Rs.2.40 lakhs for usage of WiFi facility (internet) and Rs. 1.20 lakhs for phone calls by the 10 UN representatives. A cup of tea costs Rs.1200 which sums upto Rs.2.40 lakhs. Rs.3500 has been paid for each plate of meals, which sums upto 5.25 lakhs. Tourism department has spent Rs.25 lakhs on hoardings and Rs.9 lakhs on replicas of some monuments in the city.”

“Chiranjeevi has misused his power as Tourism minister and wasted crores of public money. Hence, he should immediately resign to his post owing moral responsibility,” said the OU students’ representative. Later, they have submitted records to CBI JD Lakshmi Narayana and also filed a complaint against Chiranjeevi. they appealed JD to probe into the irregularities taken place in these three day conferences conducted by Tourism department.

Few days ago, Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Tej has indulged in a public brawl where he misused his father’s security guards for beating two innocent software engineers merely for not giving way to his vehicle in the traffic. Now, Chiranjeevi himself has wasted the public money in his capacity as union tourism minister. Yet, neither the son nor the father find themselves accountable to people.

Former Congress minister DK. Samara Simha Reddy takes plunge into TDP yesterday. Earlier he has worked in Congress then jumps into BJP from there into TRS and finally lands in TDP now. Although, he is known as a strong leader in Mehboob Nagar, his instability left him nowhere. Now, he has joined TDP expecting party ticket from Mehboob Nagar. Seeing his track record, one can understand that he may not hesitate to take one more jump if not given ticket.

Today, former Rajya Sabha member Rumandla Ramachandrayya has also returned to TD from TRS after a gap of two years. Earlier, he has closely associated with late NTR, but left TDP at the peak of Telangana agitations. He returns to party now, stating he dislikes the present situation in TRS party.

Though, it won’t make any big difference for TRS party, in wake of KCR’s tall claims of attracting rival leaders into party, their defections into TDP would be a slap for him.
