Synopsis:

The story begins with Srinivas (Udhayanidhi Stalin) receiving his ex-girlfriend Meera’s (Hansika) wedding invitation. In order to stop the marriage, he starts his journey along with his close friend Bangaru (Santhanam) in a janavasa car. As they embark on the journey, a flashback opens up. Srinivas, a happy-go-lucky youth, and Partha work for a cinema theatre in the city. Srinivas meets Meera at a traffic signal and falls for her beauty immediately. He follows her and finds out that she is an aspiring airhostess and her father is a deputy commissioner of police (Sayaji Shinde). Despite spending time with him and showing interest in him, Meera rejects Srinivas due to certain circumstances. The flashback ends there and then the comical episodes of Srinivas and Bangaru begin. With Bangaru’s help, Srinivas tries to impress Meera before the wedding. Meera is impressed and she unites with Srinivas.

Performances:

Udhayanidhi has a very poor screen presence & his acting is amateurish. He comes throughout the movie with a single expression & monotonous voice. Hanshika gives a stiff competition to Udhay in the pursuit of mediocrity.

Shanthanam is the only reason why the movie is tolerable to an extent. Whenever one gets annoyed with the happenings , he comes out with his hilarious ones , cheering up the sagging morale of the viewer. He has tried lots of funny changes in his modulations & dialogue delivery which have worked wonders. That English to Tamil translation scene in the climax is a testimony to that factu..!

The cameos by Arya, Sneha & Andrea falls flat. Saranya , Alagam Perumal & Sayaji Shinde does what they usually do .

Technical Performances:

Unlike his two previous movies “Siva Manasula Sakthi” ( Remade in Telugu as Siva Manasulo Shruthi) & “Boss engira Baskaran” (dubbed as Nene Ambani), M.Rajesh’s latest flick “OKOK” lacks a gripping screenplay. SMS had Jeeva in Tamil & BEB had Arya who did their parts hilariously as well as Shanthanam but here the lead actor in Udayanithi Stalin is too weak to carry a movie on his shoulder. As a result even though Shanthanam manages his level best in keeping the ship from sinking, the ride is not as enjoyable as the two previous ones from the same director.

Balasubramanyam’s cinematography is Good. Harris Jeyaraj’s Background score is tacky while few songs are good even though it is a dubbing movie.

Final Say:

Except for the scenes in which Shanthanam cracks with his sarcasm & humour Rest of the movie is pretty ordinary. It is another routine story which depict the youngsters’ lives as being focussed on one point mission of chasing & getting a good looking girl. To see the same thing getting repeated for around 3 hours time does tests one’s patience. The first time flight & the English to Telugu translation scenes are two scenes in particular which are damn hilarious & worthy of mention.

On the whole, “OKOK” is a pretty average movie with boring story , dragging screenplay & terrible acting. Watch it if you have nothing to do!
