The audience verdict is out and Vishnu Manchu and RGV are elated. Their out-of-the-box film ‘Anukshanam’ strategy worked brilliantly at the box office. It is for the first time a film was auctioned and released in minimal number of theatres.
The psycho thriller which opened in theatres worldwide today is garnering tremendous appreciation for its approach and performances of Vishnu Manchu as a Police Officer.
We went with our gut feeling as we were quite confident that the film will thrill the audiences – says the actor-director duo and we are thankful it worked. I have been getting calls from audiences, friends, family, trade and industry appreciating my performance in the film. I feel nice as I have been able to shape a place in this genre too says the actor producer Vishnu Manchu.
With audiences giving thumbs up for the movie for its unique approach and storytelling, the demand for more screens both in single and multiplexes have doubled the screens immediately after the audience verdict was out today morning.
Trade experts said, it is for the first time a Vishnu Manchu film opened in such low number of screens world over.
In US it just opened in 13 screens (earlier his films have opened 65-90 screens in US alone) and in India a mere 350 screen (unlike his earlier films that are released in over 800 – 900 screens). The budget for the film was also miniscule compared to his earlier films like Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda which was made with a budget of 30 Crore. And Anukshanam is made just in 20% of Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda.
Critics have termed “Anushkanam” as an engaging psycho thriller. Interesting screenplay, Vishnu and Revathi’s performances are the major pull of the film and the film makers are confident that by end of day the film will break even and create new ticket records.
RGV and Vishnu Manchu set a whole new trend in the industry by auctioning Anukshanam, a move many would have negated. The bidders are overjoyed lot too as it the film has got them admiration for having faith in the product and investing in the film distribution.
The duos have done two films together and their chemistry as actor-director is striking rich at the box office. Vishnu underwent a major transformation to get into the shoes of a cop that is hunting down a dangerous serial killer.
