The events taking place in old city during last one week over some repair works of Bhagya Lakshmi temple, which is in the premises of the famous monument Charminar, leads to tensions between the two religious groups in the area. Police guessing the trouble have deployed additional forces around the monument and also arrested some locals who come in large groups protesting the construction activities at the temple. MIM leaders Asaddudeen OYC and several others were reported to be taken into custody and released in this connection. This further escalated tensions in the old city.
MIM, which is supporting the ruling Congress party in the state and Center, enraged with the arrests decided to snap its ties with Congress party. MIM convenes an urgent meeting of its political bureau on Sunday to discuss about the issue.
Later, MIM president Asaddudeen speaking to media has warned the Government of withdrawing their support at state and Center, if its attitude remains same in this regard. He blamed Government for allowing the construction works of the temple despite knowing about the court stay order.
Even though the 7 members of MIM party in Assembly withdraw their support to ruling congress Government it has no immediate threat. However, it may land them into troubles if all the opposition parties join hands to bring no-confidence- motion against it. So, Kiran Kumar may initiate some damage control measures immediately.
