Shivsena Chief Bal Thakare, who was ailing with lung decease since last few months passes away on Saturday evening around 3.30 pm at his Matosri residence. Doctors said he was died due to lungs failure which resulted in cardiac arrest. He was admitted in Leelavati Hospitalin Mumbai in June this year, but later has been shifted to his Matosri residence in Bandra on his request. Ever since, he was undergoing treatment at his house. He died around 3.30 pm on Saturday. The last rituals will take place on Sunday morning around 10 AM.
Bal Thakre was born at Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh in year 1926 January 23rd. His full name is Bal Kesav Thakre. People used to fondly call him as Bala sahib. He has begun his life as political cartoonist working for a Mumbai based news magazine The Free Press Journal.
Later, he turned into a full pledged politician and launched his radical Shivsena party in year 1966 to safeguard the interests of Hindus, especially Marathi people. Later, he also launched a Marathi news paper ‘Samna’ and a Hindi news paper ‘Dupahar ka Samna’ in year 1989, which reflects his opinions on several key issues.
He wants Mahrashtra free of migrants flown in from other parts of the country. He also made several attempts in that direction thus creating unrest in Mumbai. He likes German leader Hitler and LTTE leader Prabhakaran very much as he believes thatIndiaalso needs a dictatorship ruling to keep itself on tracks. He also opposes celebrating Valentines’ day and strictly prohibit it through his party workers, who are named as Shivsainiks.
Balthakre’s wife Meena Thakre died with heart attack in year 1996. His elder son Bindhu Madhv Thakre also died in a road accident few years ago. Bal Thakre’s second son Uddav Thakre has been looking after the party affairs ever since his father becomes ill.
President of India Pranab Mukharji, Prime Minister Dr.manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and National leaders like LK.Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Venkayya Naidu, Arun Jaitly, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu, actors Amitabh Bachchan and his family members, several Bollywood stars, playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, Rajnikanth from South Indian film industry, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and several leaders of National level and state level have express their grief over his death. Bollywood has terminated all its shooting activities knowing upon his death.
Mahrashtra Government has deployed additional forces and made elaborate security arrangements in Mumbai and sensitive areas in the state as a preventive measure.
